The Restoration of Saadians Tombs

Located in the medina of Marrakech, the Royal Necropolis of the Saadian Dynasty was built in the sixteenth century by Sultan Ahmed El Mansour Essaadi. This architectural jewel is in a degraded conservation, the Dr Leila Mezian Foundation, in collaboration with the Moroccan Ministry of Culture, undertakes in 2013 to restore this patrimony in order to revitalize it and preserve the memory and heritage of Morocco. For two years, the specialized craftsmen called the Maalems, thanks to their talent combined with the advanced technologies, will follow each other at the building by performing the zellige, the wood, the plaster and the marble. Thus, the Mihrab Room, the Twelve Columns Room, the Three Niche Room and the Lalla Messaouda Cupola find once again their original splendor and make once again this magical place shine.
