Lola, 25 ans, vit à New York où elle travaille pour la Poste en rêvant d'une carrière de danseuse. Youssef, son meilleur ami, est un jeune Egyptien gay installé à New York pour y vivre comme il l'entend. C'est par lui que Lola découvre l'histoire d'Ismahan, star de la danse orientale, véritable légende au Caire.

Dans le restaurant où Youssef travaille, Lola rencontre un autre Egyptien, Zack. L'idylle tourne rapidement court quand Zack prend conscience des différences culturelles qui les séparent et rentre en Egypte. Sans réfléchir, Lola, aussi impulsive que naïve, décide immédiatement de le suivre, sous les yeux effarés de Youssef.

Arrivée au Caire, déçue par l'accueil de la famille de Zack autant que par l'attitude du jeune homme, Lola se met en tête de retrouver la fascinante danseuse Ismahan.

Lola, 25 years old, lives in New York where she works for the Post Office dreaming of a career as a dancer. Youssef, his best friend, is a young Egyptian gay living in New York. It is through him that Lola discovers the story of Ismahan, star of oriental dance, a true legend in Cairo.

In the restaurant where Youssef works, Lola meets another Egyptian, Zack. The idyll quickly turns short when Zack becomes aware of the cultural differences that separate them and returns to Egypt. Without thinking, Lola, as impulsive as naive, immediately decided to follow him, under the bewildered eyes of Youssef.

Arrived in Cairo, disappointed by the welcome of Zack's family as much as the attitude of the young man, Lola is heading to find the fascinating dancer Ismahan.
