Khouribga African Film Festival pays tribute to the great actress and director Maimouna N'daiaye
Held from December 15 to 22, the 21st edition of the Khouribga African Film Festival paid tribute to director and actress Maimouna N'daiaye during the opening ceremony. The prize was awarded by the president of the festival foundation Nourredine Sail.
In a statement to the MAP, the actress claimed to be "thrilled", saying she was happy and delighted to have received this tribute from the African Film Festival of Khouribga and Morocco. "My dream would be to make films with a Moroccan director and Moroccan actors," she added while expressing the wish to see Moroccan directors shooting their productions in different countries of the continent. She concluded with a smile :"Long live to the Khouribga Festival" .
Born in France, this actress and director from Burkina Faso take an important place in the world of cinema by her wide experience. She directed several documentaries about Africa including: Warbassaga (1998), Balan (2004), Recréatales (2003), Amando (2003), Pauline (2009), Tranches de vies (2009) et Le prix du courage (2010).
As an actress, she played theater and cinema in Senegal, Guinea and Burkina Faso. She has performed in La Chasse aux papillons, by Otar Iosseliani (1992), in Bol d'amour, by Jacques Trabi and in Kirikou et la Sorcière by Michel Ocelot (1998). In 2014, she played the leading role in Sékou Traoré's film "L’œil du cyclone", which won the bronze standard at FESPACO 2015 and won the prize for best female performance at the Khouribga’s Festival, in Cameroon. in Tunisia, Burundi, Congo, Côte d'Ivoire and Burkina Faso.
Alongside Maimouna N'Diaye, Mohamed Kheyi, an emblematic figure of Moroccan cinema, will also be honored during this 21 edition of the festival. A festival that has been working since its creation to promote African film culture and industry.
